Craig Meriwether: Can We Change the Stories We Carry After 60?

Craig Meriwether joins me for a wide-ranging conversation about the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy, old patterns—and our capacity to change at any age.

In this episode:

  • What the subconscious mind is trying to do for us
  • How old emotional “instructions” can follow us through adulthood
  • Why understanding a pattern doesn’t necessarily change it
  • How memories and perceptions can shift over time
  • Hypnosis myths—including the fear of losing control
  • The difference between stage hypnosis and therapeutic hypnotherapy
  • Regrets about relationships, careers and roads not taken
  • Why “I’m too old to change” deserves to be challenged
  • The importance of checking a hypnotherapist’s training and qualifications
  • How learning and new experiences continue to matter as we age
  • Why resilience may be a more realistic goal than constant happiness

Craig also shares his own experience with anxiety and depression and explains how that journey eventually led him to his work in hypnotherapy.

Perhaps the most encouraging idea in this conversation is also the simplest: whatever age we are, our past doesn’t have to have the final word.

Listen below and then share this episode!

A note before we begin: This conversation includes discussion of anxiety, depression, trauma and hypnotherapy. Craig shares his professional perspective and experiences with clients; these should not be taken as medical or mental-health advice. Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for appropriate medical or psychological care. Please consult a qualified health professional about your own circumstances.
