Elke Scholz — Finding Your Energy Again

Registered psychotherapist, author and speaker Elke Scholz joins Agnes for a conversation about burnout, anxiety and a question many women ask after a demanding season of life: Where did my energy go?

Rather than assuming we simply need to push harder, Elke encourages us to become curious about what drains our energy, what restores it, and what our bodies may be telling us. The conversation also explores what happens when long-held roles begin to change—and we have to rediscover who we are when we’re no longer responsible for everyone else.

In this episode, Agnes and Elke discuss:

  • Why burnout, stress and anxiety can overlap
  • What can happen after decades of being the good daughter, mother, partner, employee or caregiver
  • How resentment and continually putting ourselves last can contribute to exhaustion
  • Why retirement and changing roles can leave us wondering, Who am I now?
  • Learning to notice what raises our energy—and what pulls it down
  • Why connection, curiosity and trying something new can help us rediscover ourselves
  • Elke’s simple practice of asking, “What will make me happy today?”
  • What happened when she decided she was finished with Muskoka winters, bought a travel trailer and headed for Arizona

This is a conversation about more than burnout. It’s about paying attention to ourselves again, trusting the clues our energy gives us, and remembering that we don’t need to have the entire next chapter figured out before we begin.
